Padded jackets have their time to shine this season. Look out for hi-buff hero pieces by usual suspects Moncler, and the likes of Plein Sport, LC23 and Stone Island Shadow Project, who have also gone heavy with the metal motif.
Few things are more satisfying than slipping into a warm furry coat on a cold day, and wrapping up in a tactile shagpile couldn’t be easier right now. Shearling is a strong seasonal trend, but also consider alpaca blends and mohair that add a luxurious textural element.
Big is Beautiful
The message from the AW17 runways is that size matters. So think big with voluminous puffers, floor-length coats, oversized sleeves and exaggerated silhouettes that put the great into the outdoors.
Soldier on this winter in military-inspired outerwear, from the nonchalantly belted trench to the more formal pea coat. While camel and navy blue are the classic options, this season’s go-to colour is dark moss green, which makes for a more subversive yet equally chic look.
